First, thanks for being here…let me tell you a little bit about me and why I’m qualified to coach you in this part of your life journey. We are possibly not that different…I became a wife and mom early in my life and spent a solid portion of that time taking care of everyone else but myself. Sound familiar? No regrets, but definitely consequences. I morphed from a fit, athletic person with a promising future into an unhealthy, stressed out 250lb human. Which would be okay if I was 6ft tall right? Well, maybe…but I’m 5’2”, and that was too much mass on my structure. The “Big 3” were on the immediate horizon for me- diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. Like many, I tried to blame genetics, but let’s get real here. I had done this to myself; as did every unhealthy relative I had that made up my “genetic” traits. This was a lifestyle issue, NOT a genetic profile.
Over 25 years ago, I walked into my local gym and found a trainer (skimming cash off the grocery budget to fund it). He saw something in me that had been buried for decades. It was the desire to be healthy and athletic, to find the practices that worked for me, and to educate others in finding their best selves through their own unique practices. He trained me to become a coach and trainer, not even knowing that this has been my lifelong dream since meeting my first PE teacher at 6yrs old. I will be forever grateful to him and all the other special people in my life who have encouraged me to follow my heart and calling to coach. Every day I work, I get to show people just how amazing and strong in body and spirit they truly are. It makes my heart smile.
Along the way, I’ve learned, tried, corrected and evolved my practices for the pursuit of good health and a level of fitness that would allow anyone to live their best life. I call it “playing the long game.” While it’s rewarding to win a challenge, achieve new skills, lose weight, see the metrics of your hard work pay off, there’s a much deeper pursuit that not only yields those results, but THEY LAST. That’s right, coaching and educating people to play their own “Long Game “ of life is what Long Game Training is all about.
At Long Game Training, we are a community of like minded people who want to live well on all levels- physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. Learning to navigate these and other pillars of true health is what we are here to do. Through exercise, nutrition, behavior modifications and spiritual practices, we address the total human in all of us. We support and encourage each other through each aspect of true health, and then share with others what has worked for us. Which, by the way, is a forever moving target.
So…here you are… welcome…let’s get started!
Your success at doing you is waiting.
